The demand for Nigeria’s Super Eagles jersey has increased following the team’s impressive performance at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

The Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Honourable Idris Abdullahi Musa, disclosed this in an interview with Wonderland Sports. According to him, many Moroccans have shown strong interest in buying Nigeria jerseys since the start of the tournament.

Musa said people regularly approach members of the Nigerian delegation asking to buy the jerseys, even offering money for them. Some specifically request jerseys with the names of Nigerian football legends and current stars such as Jay-Jay Okocha, Sunday Oliseh, Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.

He praised Moroccans for their hospitality, describing them as friendly and welcoming to visitors, especially Nigerians.

Musa also expressed admiration for Morocco’s sports facilities and infrastructure. He noted that training centres and gym facilities are available in almost every city, adding that many of them are open to the public at no cost.

According to him, Nigeria has similar facilities but suffers from poor maintenance culture. He said major stadiums in Abuja and Lagos were world-class when they were built and could still be in top condition if properly maintained.

Looking ahead, the Kwara FA chairman revealed plans to organise several competitions in 2026. These include the Kwara State League, the Governor’s Cup for both male and female teams, and the Usman Mustapha Under-20 Cup.

He added that other grassroots football programmes are also part of the association’s plans
