A United States congressman has reacted to a disturbing video allegedly released by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), saying it ends all arguments that Christians in Nigeria are not being targeted for their faith.

The video, which surfaced online, reportedly shows a Christian village in Adamawa State burning, accompanied by a statement attributed to ISWAP declaring that all Christians in Nigeria are “legitimate targets.” The terror group allegedly warned that Christians could “spare their blood” by converting to Islam or paying the jizyah tax.

However, Nigerian authorities are yet to officially confirm the authenticity of the video or the claims made in it as of the time of filing this report.

Reacting to the footage, Rep. Riley M. Moore said the images and accompanying message expose what he described as the true nature of attacks against Christians in Nigeria.

“If there were any remaining doubts that Christians in Nigeria are being targeted for their faith in Jesus Christ, this should end that debate,” Moore said in a post on X.

He rejected narratives that frame the violence as disputes over land, climate change or local conflicts, insisting the attacks are driven by religious extremism.

“This isn’t about land usage, ‘climate change,’ or any other argument the Left wants to make. This is persecution of our brothers and sisters for their faith in Christ, plain and simple,” he stated.

Moore also condemned ISWAP’s alleged ultimatum to Christians in the video.

“ISIS is telling Christians they have an opportunity to ‘spare their blood’ if they convert. Our brothers and sisters will not bend the knee to anyone but our Lord and Savior,” he added.

The US lawmaker further praised Washington’s engagement with Nigerian authorities, noting that the United States is working with the Nigerian government to counter extremist groups and protect Christian communities.

“Thankfully, the President is continuing to work in cooperation with the Nigerian government to stop these Islamic radicals and defend our brothers and sisters in Christ,” Moore said.
