Fifteen passengers escaped death when their bus had a burst tyre and lost control due to excessive speed on Osogbo–Gbongan Expressway, Osun State, on Friday.
The Osun Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Adegboyega Leye, made this known in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi, in Osogbo on Friday.
However, he said one person sustained severe injuries in the accident
Leye said the accident occurred at about 3:45 p.m. on Friday Gbongan-Ode Omu Grammar School axis.
He explained that the accident involved a white commercial bus which had a burst tyre and lost control due to excessive speed.
According to him, a total 16 passengers were involve in the accident with only one sustaining severe injuries while the remaining 15 passengers were not hurt.
“The injured victim was taken to an undisclosed hospital in Gbongan for medical attention while the vehicle confiscated by the FRSC rescue team,” the sector commander said.
Leye warned motorists to refrain from speeding, noting that it often results in loss of lives and property on highways.
