The Super Eagles have continued their preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 match against Mozambique with another closed training session.
Head coach Éric Chelle has decided to keep the team’s training private as the important knockout match gets closer. Journalists were not allowed to watch the team train on Thursday and Friday, and the same decision was taken again on Saturday.
Sources close to the team say the closed sessions are meant to help the players stay focused and work calmly without distractions. It also gives the coaches the chance to fine-tune tactics, improve team shape, and practice set pieces without revealing their plans to the opposition.
However, the media will be allowed to watch the first 15 minutes of the Super Eagles’ training session on Sunday, as required by AFCON media rules.
Nigeria will play Mozambique in the Round of 16 on Monday. The winner of the match will move on to the quarter-finals, while the losing team will be knocked out of the tournament.
The match will be played at the Complexe Sportif de Fès in Morocco and will kick off at 8:00 p.m. Nigerian time. Nigerian fans will be hoping the Super Eagles put in a strong performance and qualify for the next round.
