Fisayo Olagunju, popularly known as MC Fish, the estranged husband of Nollywood actress Anita Joseph, has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding their crashed marriage, strongly refuting claims that he depended financially on the actress during their union.
MC Fish, who is a well-known MC and hypeman, made the clarification in a series of emotional posts shared on his Instagram story on Saturday. According to him, contrary to circulating narratives, it was Anita Joseph who initially showed interest in him, and their conversations eventually led to marriage.
Reacting to claims that he was unemployed or fed by his wife throughout their five-year marriage, MC Fish dismissed the allegations as false and insulting. He stressed that he has been earning a living as a professional hypeman and master of ceremonies for over 15 years.
“I was at my hype job when they came to toast me and it led to marriage,” he wrote, insisting that he never relied on Anita Joseph to survive. He challenged anyone claiming that the actress singlehandedly handled all the bills in their marriage to come forward with proof.
MC Fish also defended the hypeman profession, noting that many of those who ridicule it still hire hypemen for their parties and events. He described the criticism as hypocritical and unfair.
“The same people that call us ‘ordinary hypemen’ are the ones that call and pay us when it’s time for their big parties,” he stated, adding that if there was truly no future in the profession, Anita Joseph would not have agreed to marry him in the first place.
He further warned critics to stop attacking him based on his career, saying persistent falsehoods could force him to reveal details he has so far chosen to keep private about the marriage.
