The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sunday Eitokpah Akata as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Cross River State Police Command.

The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by the outgoing PPRO, CSP Irene Ugbo, on behalf of the command.

ASP Akata, an indigene of Edo State, was commissioned into the Nigeria Police Force in 2022 after completing a five-year training programme at the Nigeria Police Academy, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry.

He has undergone several specialised professional courses, including combat operations and counter-terrorism, leadership training, forensic crime scene management, and both basic and advanced detective courses at police training institutions across the country.

ASP Akata is also a certified Advanced Facilitator for the Nigeria Police Reform Programme and a member of the National Institute of Social Media Analysts (NISMA), Abuja.
