The Super Eagles’ Media Officer, Promise Efoghe, on Tuesday, dismissed speculations surrounding player movements and alleged unrest within the team’s camp in Fez, Morocco, assuring that the squad remains united and fully focused.
In a statement made available to journalists, Efoghe clarified that forward Akor Adams did not leave the camp on a long-term basis, contrary to reports circulating in some sections of the media.
He explained that the striker only stepped out briefly to visit his parents, who are currently in Fez and located just a few minutes’ drive from the team’s hotel.
According to the Media Officer, Adams returned to camp in less than an hour and rejoined his teammates before lunchtime.
Efoghe also addressed reports of tension following an on-field remonstration between two Super Eagles players during Nigeria’s match against Mozambique, stressing that the issue had been handled internally and resolved.
“The issues arising from the on-field remonstration during the match against Mozambique were resolved internally and have no bearing on team unity. There is no crisis in the camp.”
He urged the public and media practitioners to disregard reports suggesting lingering disputes within the squad, describing such claims as inaccurate and misleading.
Looking ahead, Efoghe disclosed that the Super Eagles will depart Fez for Marrakech on Thursday, January 8, as preparations continue for the next stage of the tournament.
On training activities, he revealed that the team commenced a recovery session at the Sardienne Complex, with 26 players taking part, while injured defender Ryan Alebiosu continues his rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the medical team.
He added that the atmosphere in camp remains positive, with players and officials fully committed to the team’s objectives.
