TUXA Awards celebrates Africa’s brightest UX, Tech innovators at 2025 ceremony

The maiden edition of The UX Design Awards (TUXA), Nigeria’s first dedicated award platform celebrating excellence in user experience, design innovation, and digital creativity, was held over the weekend and recognized 22 outstanding African talents shaping the future of technology and design across the continent.

The awards brought together product designers, tech founders, digital entrepreneurs, developers, storytellers, and ecosystem leaders to honour individuals whose work demonstrates exceptional creativity, impact, and leadership within Africa’s fast-growing technology landscape.

Speaking at the ceremony, the creator of TUXA emphasized that the awards were established to celebrate talent, spotlight impact, and inspire the next generation of African innovators.

“Africa is filled with world-class design and tech talent. TUXA is our way of honouring their excellence and giving global recognition to the incredible work happening across the continent,” the organizer said.

2025 TUXA Award Winners

1. Semudara Abayomi – Tech Storyteller of the Year
Recognized for shaping Africa’s tech narrative through storytelling, ecosystem building, and community leadership.

2. Femi Richards – Design Leadership Award
Honoured for empowering designers and contributing significantly to UX education across Africa.

3. Dennis Obaro – Web3 & AI Design Innovator Award
Recognized for groundbreaking innovation at the intersection of Web3, AI, and user experience.

4. Tobi Olushola – Global Brand & Product Design Excellence Award

Awarded for excellence in brand and product design that continues to shape world-class digital experiences.

5. Rukayat Yaro – Design Education Impact Award
Honoured for her commitment to training and mentoring emerging designers.

The organisers noted that TUXA Awards signal the start of a new tradition aimed at celebrating creativity, innovation, and leadership in Africa’s digital space.

The organizers also announced plans to expand into TUXA Africa (2027) and take the platform global by 2030, positioning African design talent on the world stage.
