2027: PDP still on Atiku, Peter Obi – Chairman
Quick Read
“We are doing the rounds. We have already met former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida. Our next visits will be to Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar,” Ogidi stated.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) says it remains committed to engaging key national figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, as part of its ongoing outreach across Nigeria.
Speaking on Channels Morning Brief, Emma Ogidi, PDP Chairman for the South-South Zone, said the party is conducting rounds to meet political, traditional, and religious leaders to remind Nigerians of its enduring presence and contributions.
“We are doing the rounds. We have already met former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida. Our next visits will be to Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar,” Ogidi stated.
He described the PDP as “the real face of democracy in Nigeria,” emphasizing the party’s consistency since its founding in 1998. “PDP is the only party that has not changed its logo or vision for Nigeria. All we are doing now is reminding Nigerians of what we have been doing,” he added.
Ogidi criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for its transformations over the years, from AD to AC, ACN, and now APC, describing the moves as opportunistic power grabs. In contrast, he argued, PDP has maintained its identity and vision for nearly three decades.
The PDP South-South Chairman said the party’s outreach aims to reaffirm its relevance and commitment to Nigerians ahead of the 2026 political calendar
