The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the final draw for the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 will take place in Rabat, Morocco, on Thursday, 15 January 2025.
According to a statement on the CAF website on Wednesday, the draw is scheduled for 2 pm local time.
CAF also revealed that on the same day, it will announce the winners of the CAF Women’s Coach of the Year award, along with other accolades recognising outstanding achievements in women’s football across the continent.
The 2026 edition of WAFCON is set to be historic, as it will be the first to feature an expanded 16-team tournament, up from the previous 12.
The qualified nations include hosts Morocco, as well as Nigeria, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.
CAF’s statement highlighted that this expansion reflects the growing competitiveness and popularity of women’s football in Africa, offering more nations the opportunity to compete on the continental stage.
