Nigerian actress and on-air personality Simidrey has taken to social media to call out an airline over what she described as an unfair and exhausting travel ordeal that left her stranded in South Africa for over 24 hours.
According to the actress, she had purchased a fully paid and confirmed business class ticket but was repeatedly denied boarding due to what the airline allegedly termed an internal error. She claimed that despite her ticket showing as valid in the airline’s system, she was informed that her name was missing from the operating airline’s manifest.
Simidrey explained that she was subsequently placed on several waitlists and standby flights, none of which she was allowed to board. The situation reportedly worsened when she was later told there was only one available seat on the next flight — in economy class — and that she could only take it if she agreed to classify the change as a “voluntary downgrade” and waive her right to compensation.
The actress described the condition as coercive, stressing that she paid for a business class ticket and was being pressured to forfeit her rights simply to return home after prolonged delays allegedly caused by the airline.
Adding an emotional dimension to her account, Simidrey revealed that she is a breastfeeding mother trying to reunite with her baby. She noted that the experience had been physically exhausting and emotionally draining.
In an emotional video shared online and reposted by Linda Ikeji Blog, the actress called for urgent intervention and accountability, stating that the treatment she received went beyond mere inconvenience and reflected a disturbing lack of transparency, care, and responsibility on the part of the airline.
