Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrests on Monday, noting that the operation was conducted on January 10 under the direction of the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, following directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
“During the operation, officers recovered 2,070 suspected Pregabalin capsules and 23 parcels of suspected Cannabis Sativa from the suspected drug dealer,” Haruna said.
The five suspected thugs were found with dangerous weapons, including four knives, two scissors, and an axe, he added.
The Kano CP commended the officers for their diligence and urged residents to continue supporting the police in their fight against crime. The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
This latest arrest comes shortly after the Jigawa State Police Command announced the detention of 10 suspects in operations targeting armed robbery, drug trafficking, and other crimes across the state.
