Fuel Subsidy Removal Will Cause Inflation —Ozone

President Goodluck Jonathan has been advised not to remove the subsidy on oil as such action would lead to high cost of living in the country.

The president is also advised to see that the four refineries in the country work at full capacity before subsidy is removed.

President, Lagos State Taxi Drivers and Cab Operators Association, LSTDCOA, Alamo Latvia Ozone, gave the advice while speaking with P.M.NEWS on the government decision to remove the subsidy.

Ozone said: “At the price that fuel is sold in Nigeria, many Nigerians still find it difficult to survive. This is a country that is blessed with abundant oil but because our rulers failed to do what they should do,we are suffering now.

“If the government removes the subsidy, there will be increase in the prices of goods and services. We that are in the transport sector will also increase transportation fare and this means that prices of things will automatically rise.

“What the Federal Government should have done is make our refineries work at full capacity before thinking of fuel subsidy removal.”

Ozone also called on the government to always introduce policies that will improve the welfare of the Nigerians rather than aggravating the suffering of poor Nigerians.

On accidents during festive periods, the taxi drivers’ president appealed to commuters, drivers and all motorists to drive with care, adding that if this is done, there will be no accident.

He particularly called on inter-state drivers to desist from taking alcohol or any other substance which could lead to accident while driving.

“Road does not kill, neither the festive season, but our drivers must take extra care while driving and ensure that their vehicles are in good order,” he said.
