Popular Nigerian social media critic VeryDarkMan has called out Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson over the arrest of a TikTok content creator, Eedie Bliss, who allegedly shared unverified claims about the actress’s family.

Recall that rumours surfaced online in December 2025 alleging that Mercy Johnson’s husband, Prince Henry Okojie, bought a mansion for another woman who was reportedly pregnant for him outside his marriage. The claims were widely circulated on social media but were never officially confirmed.

Reacting to the rumours at the time, Eedie Bliss, who cited popular gossip blog Cutie Juls as her source, further alleged that Mercy Johnson connived with the woman’s house help to cause a miscarriage.

Following the allegations, Eedie Bliss was recently arrested and detained in Abuja after a petition was reportedly filed by Mercy Johnson’s husband. The arrest sparked outrage online, with many netizens criticising the actress and questioning why the original source of the report was not similarly addressed.

Reacting to the controversy, VeryDarkMan condemned the arrest and accused Mercy Johnson of being biased. He described defamation as a civil matter, arguing that the actress should have sought legal redress in court rather than involving law enforcement.

He further pointed out what he described as a contradiction, recalling that Mercy Johnson had previously criticised the arrest of Sammy Nwoko, the brother of actress Regina Daniels, who was arrested over alleged defamation following a petition by her husband, Ned Nwoko.

VeryDarkMan also revealed that the detained content creator is reportedly scheduled to get married on Saturday, warning that he would involve his legal team if she is not released.

“Dear Mercy Johnson, you can’t fight for the release of Sammy when Ned arrested him over defamation and later turn around to do the same thing with your husband,” he said.

“If you and your husband feel defamed, please sue her to court and stop using the police to oppress people. She even stated her source as Cutie Juls. I heard her wedding is this Saturday—release her and go to court,” he added.
