Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has regained his freedom after fulfilling the bail conditions granted by a court in Ogun State.
The Zazu crooner was released on Monday, January 19, 2026, after spending about one week in detention following his arrest over allegations of assault and car theft.
Portable was reportedly arrested after his baby mama, Ashabi Simple, alongside her siblings, accused him of physically assaulting them and stealing a vehicle.
The incident was said to have followed a heated argument that began on New Year’s Eve, a confrontation that later went viral on social media.
The singer was subsequently arraigned before a Federal High Court sitting in Ota, Ogun State, on a nine-count charge bordering on assault and theft. He was remanded in prison custody pending a fresh bail hearing.
At the resumed hearing on Monday, the court granted him bail, which he met, leading to his release.
Shortly after regaining his freedom, Portable appeared in a video circulating online, where he maintained his innocence and claimed the allegations against him were false. “They lied against me, my name is now Innocenty” the singer said jokingly in the clip.
