KAI Sacks Ipodo Traders
The Marshal General of the Lagos State Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI, Captain Danjuma Maigeri (retd), has once again demonstrated his resolve to keep Lagos streets clean and free for motorists.
This follows the deployment of some KAI troops led by Commander Mariam Seke to Ipodo Street to chase away streets traders that have made the place a hell for motorists and pedestrians.
When P.M.NEWS visited Ipodo Street it was very free for both motorists and pedestrians who praised the KAI troops for a job well done.
Shola Oladipupo, a commercial bus driver, said it is a welcome development for the motorists who pass through a lot of agony on a daily basis in the course of their duty.
“I thank this KAI people for this good work because we are suffering in this street; everywhere is market, to drive through has been a big problem. You can see now, everywhere is clearâ€.
A resident of Ipodo Street who identified herself as Iya Mojid said that going out of the street and coming in is hell for the residents of the street, saying; “With this latest development it is a great relief for us.
“My brother we have been suffering in silence here. We thought the government cannot do anything to save us; now we can see that we have a caring governor,†Iya Mojid said.
When P.M. NEWS spoke with the KAI strong man, Captain Danjuma Maigeri (retd), he said: “It has long been overdue to make Ipodo Street free from traders and hawkers, adding that to achieve the desired result required a lot of planning.
“If you know Ipodo Street very well you will realise that to be able to achieve a good result there, we need to plan properly and deploy the person to do the work and Commander Mariam Seke is a woman. And since most of the traders there are women, it is natural to send a woman commander there for the job and we are going to make sure we maintain this present standardâ€.
