Lagos Traffic Radio, 96.1FM, has kicked off its 2026 departmental in-house training programme, reinforcing its reputation as a dependable information hub and a key platform for promoting traffic safety, environmental awareness and cultural values across Lagos State.

The programme, themed “Empowering Excellence: Building Capacity for a Greater Lagos,” was officially flagged off at a ceremony attended by management and staff of the station.

Speaking at the event, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, described the training as a timely initiative that aligns with the state government’s focus on excellence through sustained human capital development.

He was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Olarenwaju Bajulaye.

Omotoso said the theme underscored the reality that excellence is the product of deliberate effort rather than chance, stressing that continuous capacity building remains vital to effective public service delivery.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting professional development initiatives across its agencies, noting that growth, innovation and institutional strengthening are central to achieving government objectives.

The Commissioner also praised the staff of Lagos Traffic Radio 96.1FM for their consistency, creativity and dedication, urging them to sustain high standards and embrace innovation, teamwork and strategic communication in response to the evolving demands of modern governance.

In his welcome address, the General Manager of the station, Tayo Akanle, said the in-house training was structured to enhance both individual competence and collective performance within the organisation.

According to him, the programme is designed to strengthen teamwork while reinforcing institutional values such as discipline, integrity, accountability and collaboration.

Akanle emphasised that excellence is an ongoing journey that requires continuous investment in people, systems and processes.

He encouraged participants to engage fully with the sessions and ensure that the knowledge acquired translates into improved daily operations and better service delivery to the public.

He also expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, the Permanent Secretary, as well as facilitators and resource persons for their support in making the programme a success.
