The family of Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, a frontline human rights activist, has announced the death of her younger sister, Francisca Mebu.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Lagos, Okei-Odumakin confirmed that her sister passed away on Monday in Abuja at the age of 51.
The statement expressed the family’s grief and appealed for privacy during the period of mourning.
The statement read: “With heavy hearts but total submission to the will of God, we announce the tragic demise of Comrade Franca Ngozi Okei-Mebu (a younger sister of frontline human rights activist, DrJoe Okei Odumakin).
“The incident happened on Monday, 26th January, 2026 in Abuja.
“While the family grieve over the earthly loss, we request the public to let the family mourn in private.
“May her soul rest eternally with her maker and guide over her young triplets children and her husband.
“Adieu!”
