Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday entered into a bilateral meetings with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in his ongoing visit to Türkiye, after a minor incident in which he missed his step.

The Nigerian presidency said Tinubu and his host, Erdoğan will address a press conference immediately after the bilateral meeting

Tinubu had missed his step while walking alongside Erdoğan during a ceremonial march-past organised for his reception.

However, the programme continued without disruption as the Nigerian President quickly regained his step.

Tinubu on Monday arrived in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Türkiye, for the state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.

The President was accompanied on the trip by Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN.

Others are Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun; Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr Dele Alake; and Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa.

Also on the entourage of the Nigerian President are the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; and Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr Kingsley Udeh, SAN.

Others were the Minister of State for Industry, Mr John Enoh; Chairman, House Committee on Defence, Rep. Babajimi Benson; Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Mr Daniel Bwala; and Director-General, National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.

The President’s visit is aimed at strengthening the cordial relations between Nigeria and Türkiye and exploring further areas of cooperation for mutual benefit.

Aside talks with his Turkish counterpart, President Erdogan, the visit will also feature the signing of Memoranda of Understanding between both countries, alongside other official engagements.
