The apology was made by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), which manages the airport.

The Nigerian government has apologised to passengers and airport users after a power outage at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

The blackout affected Terminal 1 over the weekend.

The apology was made by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), which manages the airport.

In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, FAAN said the problem was caused by a fault in the terminal’s power changeover system.

According to FAAN, the outage happened during a routine power switch from one supply source to another.

FAAN said its technical team acted quickly to fix the problem. Electricity was moved to a secondary power source, and backup systems were used to restore services as fast as possible.

The agency apologised to passengers and other airport users for the inconvenience caused by the outage.

“We acknowledge the power outage at MMIA Terminal 1 yesterday. The interruption was caused by a fault in the changeover circuit,” FAAN said.

“We apologise to all passengers and stakeholders affected by the disruption.”
