Rev. Esiri Kesiena finally speaks on Pastor Kingsley’s tattoo (Video)
A Christian cleric, Esiri Kesiena, has shared his perspective on the recent controversy surrounding Kingsley Okonkwo after the latter openly announced that he drew tattoos on his body.
Rev. Kesiena addressed the issue during a recent teaching, where he explained from a scriptural standpoint why getting a tattoo is not necessarily a sin, while also identifying what he described as a key error in the way the matter was handled publicly.
According to him, the Bible does not expressly condemn tattoos, noting that many believers often misinterpret certain scriptures without considering historical and cultural contexts.
He stated that, on this basis, he could not judge Pastor Okonkwo for his personal decision to get a tattoo.
“This is why I can’t judge him,” Rev. Kesiena said, stressing that salvation and spirituality are not determined by outward appearances or body markings.
However, the cleric pointed out that his concern was not about the tattoo itself, but about the public announcement surrounding it. He explained that leaders with large followings must be mindful of how their personal choices may influence others, particularly younger or less mature believers.
Rev. Kesiena added that while personal liberty is important, spiritual leadership comes with responsibility, and public actions should be weighed carefully to avoid confusion or unnecessary controversy within the Christian community.
He further emphasised that the issue should not be reduced to condemnation or online outrage, but rather approached with wisdom, balance and sound biblical understanding.
