Jos man to spend 6 months in jail for stealing cooking pot

A Jos mason, John Chigozie, has been sentenced to six months in prison after he pleaded guilty to stealing stealing a cooking pot valed at N15,000 .

The 47-year-old mason was arraigned before Magistrate’s Court in Jos on Wednesday.

Police prosecutor, Insp. Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported on Jan. 29 at the Agada Biu Police Station by one Tina Jonathan, the complainant.

Gokwat said that the convict went into the house of the complainant and stole the aluminium pot valued at N15,000 before he was caught.

He said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law

The Magistrate, Irene Pati, who sentenced the convict, after he pleaded guilty to the charge, however, gave the convict an option of a fine of N30,000
