Court sentences man to life imprisonment for sodomy of 10-year-old boy

A High Court in Kebbi State has sentenced Suleman Jidda, 30, to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy.

Jidda, a resident of Bayan Kara area of Birnin Kebbi, was arraigned on November 8, 2024, on a one-count charge of unnatural offence, contrary to Section 260 of the Kebbi State Penal Code Law, 2021.

Delivering judgment on February 4, 2026, Justice Shamsudeen Jafar ruled that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

The judge said, “I have carefully examined all the evidence before the court and found that the prosecution’s evidence is cogent and corroborative. The prosecution has proved all the ingredients required to establish the offence beyond reasonable doubt.”

The court subsequently convicted Jidda and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
