APC names Masari to head National Convention Committee

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed former Katsina State Governor and ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Masari, as Chairman of its forthcoming National Convention Committee scheduled for March.
The appointment was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by the office of the party’s National Publicity Secretary.
According to the statement, the APC also expanded the reconstituted and reshuffled Central Coordination Committee for the convention from 73 to 90 members, reflecting a broader inclusion of party leaders and stakeholders.
Former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, was named Vice-Chairman I, alongside the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, while Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as Vice-Chairman II.
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, was appointed Secretary of the committee.
Meanwhile, Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma, who was earlier announced as chairman of the committee, will now serve as its Treasurer.
The reconstituted committee includes all 27 serving APC governors, the party’s former National Chairman, Bisi Akande, as well as Adams Oshiomhole, Abdullahi Adamu, and Abdullahi Ganduje.
Also listed as members are key national lawmakers, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.
The party said the committee also features former Senate Presidents and Speakers, serving and former principal officers of both chambers of the National Assembly, as well as serving ministers, underscoring the APC’s intent to deliver a broadly coordinated and inclusive national convention.
