Yakubu Spoils Fergie 70th Birthday, As Blackburn Beat Man United 3-2 At Old Trafford

Manchester United hosted Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford in a day where Sir Alex Ferguson celebrated his 70th birthday.

However it was no celebration for Manchester United when Nigerian Yakubu Aiyegbeni scored the opening goal through a penalty kick in the 16th minute.

Matters got worse for United when the Nigerian striker scored his second and extended Blackburn’s lead in the 51st minute.

Totalfootballmadness reports that Manchester United then responded quickly through Dimitar Berbatov, who made the score 2-1 in the 52nd minute before scoring his second in the 62nd minute to level the scoreline.

Blackburn then took the lead and the winner in the 80th minute through defender Hanley.

Manchester United missed the opportunity to go top and remain 2nd behind Man City in the Premier League table.
