Yobo Tasks Local Players on Commitment

Captain of Super Eagles, Joseph Yobo, has urged the home based Super Eagles to be committed to the national assignments.

The former Everton FC player tasked the Nigeria Premier League players invited by Chief Coach Stephen Keshi to the Eagles’ camp to give their best if they want to play for the senior national team in future international championships.

“The local players need to brace up for the task ahead of them. I want them to see their call up as an opportunity and they must justify their presence in the Eagles, ” said captain Yobo.

Yobo, who is currently plying his trade with Fernabache FC of Turkey lamented the absence of the Super Eagles in the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

He said Nigeria’s absence in the Nations Cup is a big blow to the country’s football and the citizens.

“It is so sad that we are not going to be at the 2012 Nations Cup. The players are not happy about this and I believe that with early preparation, Nigeria will be at the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa,” he said.
