A protest has begun outside the National Assembly in Abuja following the Senate’s decision to exclude the provision for mandatory electronic transmission of election results from the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.
The demonstration, led by civil society groups and concerned citizens, aims to press lawmakers to reconsider the amendment and ensure transparency in the electoral process.
Members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are also present at the demonstration.
So far, the gathering has remained peaceful, with security personnel, including a combined team from the Police, Army, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), deployed to strategic locations around the Assembly to maintain order.
