In the meantime, he said all official Labour Party communications will only come through approved press statements from the Office of the Interim National Chairman.

The Labour Party (LP) has said it is not currently operating any social media accounts and has warned the public to ignore fake information shared in its name.

This was stated in a press release issued on Monday in Abuja by Ken Asogwa, Senior Special Adviser (Media) to the party’s Interim National Chairman.

According to Asogwa, the party’s leadership recently discovered a fake X (formerly Twitter) account called “Nigeria Labour Party (LP)” with the handle @NewsLp26689. He said the account was created in January 2026, shortly after a Federal High Court judgment confirmed Nenadi Usman as the party’s Interim National Chairman.

Asogwa explained that the Labour Party has only two known official social media accounts:

Facebook: Labour Party-Nig (about 12,000 followers)

X: @LabourPartyNG (about 839,000 followers)

However, he noted that these accounts are currently not in use because the former party leadership is yet to hand them over.

Following the court judgment, the party has formally asked the previous leadership to transfer control of the accounts. The party said it hopes the handover will be done peacefully.

Asogwa added that once the accounts are recovered and restored, the public will be informed.

In the meantime, he said all official Labour Party communications will only come through approved press statements from the Office of the Interim National Chairman.

He warned Nigerians to ignore any information from the fake account @NewsLp26689, stressing that it is unauthorised and only a parody account.

The party also thanked the media for their professionalism and fair reporting on Labour Party matters.
