Kwara governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has affirmed that the state will not bow to fear or intimidation of any deranged ideology in response to terrorist attack that claimed many lives in Woro community, Kaima Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Abdulrazaq said this while inaugurating a seven-member committee to deliver support the survivors of the February 3 Woro attack on Tuesday.

The Governor also promised to pursue justice for the victims of the Woro terrorist attack.

Abdulrazaq said this while inaugurating a seven-member committee to deliver support the survivors of the Woro terrorist attack, Abdulrazaq said: “today, my heart remains heavy as we gather in the shadow of the horrible terrorist attack that struck Woro on Feb. 3, where at least 75 precious lives or more were cruelly taken.

“While homes and families were shattered by the mindless terrorists who sought to impose their warped ideology on the rest of us.

” We will leave no stone unturned in pursuing justice for our people and strengthening security across our state.

” We are already coordinating with federal authorities and security agencies to ensure this evil never happens again.

” Kwara stands with you. Together, we will heal, rebuild, and emerge stronger. We shall not bow to fear or intimidation of any deranged ideology,” he said.

The governor said the mandate of the committee is to engage directly with the affected families, community leaders, and residents to identify their most pressing needs—whether rehabilitation, medical support, livelihood restoration, infrastructure rebuilding, or psychosocial care

The committee, he added, is expected to serve as the bridge between the people and government, ensuring that the interventions are community-driven, transparent, and effective.

“The committee is chaired by Mr Ahmed Kiwozi, a former lawmaker from Kaiama, with the vice chairman of Kaiama Local Government Council, Mrs Aisha Sadiq; the former state commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Abubakar Mora; and the Woro Village Head, Alhaji Umar Saliu, as members.

“Others include a representative of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA); a representative of the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP); and a female representative from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

“The committee is expected to submit its report within four weeks,” he said.

The Chairman of the committee and Kiwozi of Kugiji, Mr Ahmed Ibn- Muhammad, assured the governor that the committee will do everything humanly possible to link up with the affected people with a view to addressing their needs.

The inauguration came on the heels of call by the Senate on the Federal Government to ensure safe rescue and release of all abducted women and children from Woro community

The upper chamber also called all on the federal government to redesign and comprehensively clear the forest reserve of criminal elements and consider the strategic establishment of security formations, where necessary.

It equally urged the federal and state governments to provide comprehensive support, resources and well-structured programmes for displaced farmers and residents of Wora community in neighboring areas.

This, according to the senate, is to restore their livelihoods, rebuild economic resilience and enable them to regain sustainable economic stability.

The senate’s resolutions followed a Point of Order raised by Sen. Sadiq Umar (APC-Kwara) on the “Killings of Over 100 innocent persons in Woro Communities of Kaima Local Government Area”, during plenary on Tuesday.
