Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Remo Division of Ogun East Senatorial District have officially endorsed Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, as their preferred candidate for the Senate in the 2027 elections.
The decision came during a meeting of party leaders on Tuesday, where stakeholders encouraged the governor to contest for the Ogun East Senatorial seat.
Chief Muri Awolaja, a senior party leader from Sagamu Local Government Area, praised Abiodun as a true son of Remoland and a capable leader, calling him highly qualified to represent the district at the National Assembly. The motion was seconded by former Remo North Local Government Chairman, Dapo Odunsi.
Local council chairmen in the area, including Hon. Muyiwa Sodade of Remo North and Hon. Jamiu Asimi of Ikenne, also urged the governor to heed the call of the people. Asimi said, “We at the grassroots can confidently say that the people of Remoland and Ogun East are waiting for you to represent them in the Senate. This is in appreciation of the remarkable work you have done as governor.”
The endorsement was officially announced by Chief Kola Ogunjobi, a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council, in the presence of prominent APC leaders, including Ogun East APC Chairman Chief Adeleke Adedoyin and several others.
Ogunjobi highlighted Abiodun’s achievements in governance, including over 1,600 kilometres of roads constructed, the completion of Gateway International Airport, and policies that have attracted over 70% of Nigeria’s new manufacturing companies to Ogun State.
He added, “If he has achieved so much as governor, bringing him home to represent Ogun East in the Senate will deliver even greater benefits for Remoland and the entire district.”
Party officials from the three local government areas pledged full support and grassroots mobilisation to ensure the governor’s victory should he declare interest in the Senate seat.
The Remo Division leaders expressed pride in Abiodun’s achievements and resolved to lead efforts for his emergence as the APC candidate for Ogun East Senatorial District in 2027.
