EPL: Carrick not front-runner as United target Tuchel for United managerial Job

Quick Read

Carrick was appointed until the end of the season after the club dismissed Ruben Amorim. Since stepping in, Carrick has impressed, winning four consecutive matches before his side played a 1-1 draw against West Ham United on Tuesday.

Manchester United have reportedly identified their preferred candidate to take over permanently from interim manager Michael Carrick.

Carrick was appointed until the end of the season after the club dismissed Ruben Amorim. Since stepping in, Carrick has impressed, winning four consecutive matches before his side played a 1-1 draw against West Ham United on Tuesday.

Despite his strong start, Manchester United are not rushing to appoint a new manager and do not currently see Carrick as the leading option for the permanent role this summer.

Several top coaches have been linked with the job, including Carlo Ancelotti, Luis Enrique, Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Roberto De Zerbi and Oliver Glasner.

However, reports from the Manchester Evening News suggest that Thomas Tuchel is emerging as the preferred choice among United’s decision-makers.

Tuchel is currently the head coach of England and will become available in July after the 2026 World Cup, when his contract with the national team expires.
