La Liga: Barcelona tempt Galatasaray with €80m deal for Osimhen

Barcelona have renewed their interest in Victor Osimhen and plan to make another attempt to sign the Galatasaray forward this summer.

The Spanish club sees the Nigerian striker as the ideal long-term replacement for veteran Robert Lewandowski, whose role is being gradually reduced.

Osimhen has been one of Europe’s most reliable goal scorers since the 2022/23 season, when he helped Napoli win the Serie A title and finished as their top scorer. Barcelona believe his speed, strength, and finishing skills match the profile they are looking for in their squad rebuild.

Galatasaray, however, are not eager to let go of their star player. The Turkish club is enjoying domestic success and performing well in Europe, largely thanks to Osimhen’s goals.

Despite this, Galatasaray have set a price for the striker if Barcelona or another top European team makes a serious offer. Reports suggest negotiations could start at around €80 million, which would give Galatasaray a profit on the €75 million they paid Napoli to sign him permanently this season.

For Barcelona, this would be a major signing—securing a proven striker in his prime. For Osimhen, it would be a chance to play again on one of Europe’s biggest stages.

Osimhen has been impressive recently, scoring 37 goals and providing seven assists last season.

He has continued his strong form this season, even after missing some matches due to the Africa Cup of Nations, where he helped Nigeria finish third. His performances in the Champions League have also boosted his reputation across Europe.

The Nigerian is contracted with Galatasaray until 2029, giving the club strong negotiating power but also flexibility if the right offer comes in.
