The Lagos State Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development (MWID) has trained its middle-level officers as part of efforts to enhance professionalism, efficiency and service delivery within the civil service.

The two-day training, held at the Secretariat in Alausa, focused on “Ethics of Communication in the Civil Service” and targeted officers from Grade Levels 01 to 12.

The programme covered key areas including job enhancement, effective communication, workplace ethics, emotional intelligence, teamwork, and dedication to duty.

Declaring the training open, the Honourable Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Dayo Bush Alebiosu, described the initiative as more than a routine capacity-building exercise.

“This training is not just an event but an opportunity for team bonding, intensive interaction, and strategic partnership and unity, which in the long run will foster effective and efficient service delivery,” he said.

Alebiosu added that the knowledge gained would help reshape participants’ commitment to duty, improve performance and contribute to the socio-economic growth of Lagos State. He urged the officers to actively participate, ask questions and embrace continuous learning.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, ESV Adebayo Wasiu Olayinka, charged participants to justify the public resources invested in the programme by applying the lessons learned to their daily responsibilities.

He emphasised that the ministry must consistently meet expectations and improve efficiency.

Also speaking, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Akintunde Akinteye, who coordinated the training, commended the state leadership for supporting the initiative. He noted that the programme would significantly strengthen capacity within the ministry.

On behalf of the participants, Mr. Musa Olaitan expressed appreciation to the state government and the ministry’s leadership for organising what he described as an enlightening experience.

He assured that participants would reciprocate by delivering improved service.
