Poly Expels 11 For Exam Malpractices
Authorities of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State, have expelled 11 students for examination malpractices during the 2010/2011 academic session.
The rector of the polytechnic, Alhaji Abdullahi Sule, disclosed in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bida, that the students were caught cheating during the examination, adding that their cases were referred to the institution’s Exams Misconduct Committee.
Sule said the affected students, who were on indefinite suspension, refused to appear before the committee to defend themselves on the allegation which led to their expulsion from the institution.
He said the admission of another set of 373 students was withdrawn for various malpractices during the last academic board meeting held recently.
He said the affected students had been blacklisted by the institution, adding that “any of them seen within the premises of the polytechnic after resumption will be shown the way out by our security personnel.â€
The rector said the affected students had been duly informed by the institution’s management not to come into the institution.
According to him, if they do, they will be arrested for illegal entry by the security personnel and handed over to the police.
Sule reiterated the institution’s determination to rid the institution of students who break laws, especially those involved in examination malpractices, cultism and admission racketeering.
He advised students to face their studies and shun all forms of anti-social activities such as drug abuse, cultism and examination malpractices.
