Why I disappeared from TV – Krystn Enem opens up

Quick Read

Enem finally addressed years of speculation over her sudden disappearance from the spotlight, explaining that exhaustion forced her to pause after nearly a decade of intense production and on-air commitments.

Veteran media personality Krystn Enem has revealed that professional burnout was the major reason she stepped away from the entertainment industry at the peak of her television career.

Enem finally addressed years of speculation over her sudden disappearance from the spotlight, explaining that exhaustion forced her to pause after nearly a decade of intense production and on-air commitments.

Her exit came after the closure of her long-running programme, The Krystn Enem Show, which marked the beginning of an eight-year hiatus.

The programme, which first aired on PRTV before expanding to Africa Magic Urban, was a staple of early 2000s pop-culture television and featured interviews with top music stars including Olamide, Falz, Yemi Alade, and Simi.

Reflecting on the period, Enem said her demanding schedule took a toll on her health and wellbeing.

“I took a break because I was tired — mentally, emotionally, physically and psychologically. I had been working non-stop for almost 10 years, and my body just shut down,” she said, adding that what was initially planned as a six-month rest eventually stretched into eight years.

During the hiatus, she experienced major personal changes, including motherhood, which she described as one of the most defining moments of her life.

Now returning to the media space, Enem announced a new project, Conversations with Krystn Enem, a podcast she described as a rebirth of her former television brand but with deeper and more reflective discussions. The show focuses on healing, identity, relationships, emotional wellbeing and life transitions, and currently streams on digital platforms including YouTube.

Before relocating to the United States nearly a decade ago, Enem built her media career through her company, Glaim Concepts, where she produced and hosted her flagship programme. While abroad, she also worked in corporate America, gaining leadership experience as she prepared for a creative comeback.

Following what she called a “major personal shift” in 2025, Enem said she is now prioritising clarity, wellness and purpose over constant hustle and is open to collaborations, corporate leadership opportunities and storytelling projects.
