Nollywood actress Rosy Meurer has responded after a throwback video showing her referring to colleague Tonto Dikeh as “family” resurfaced online, sparking fresh controversy on social media.

The video surfaced shortly after Meurer insisted in a recent post that she did not know Dikeh personally and had never met her during the period the latter was married to businessman Olakunle Churchill, who is now Meurer’s husband.

In earlier statements, the actress had maintained that she had no romantic feelings for Churchill at the time and described him as a brother figure who was assisting her and her family before their eventual marriage.

However, social media users dug up an old clip where Meurer appeared close to Dikeh and spoke warmly about her, contradicting her recent claims.

Reacting via her Instagram story, Meurer said the video was recorded when she was younger and inexperienced, explaining that she was dragged into a situation that did not concern her at the time.

According to her, media pressure and public scrutiny influenced some of the statements she made back then.

“I was so young and innocent then. The media space was new to me and I got dragged into something that didn’t concern me,” she wrote.

She added that she now feels more confident to tell her side of the story, stressing that no one can intimidate her into silence.

“I am older and wiser now. Whatever I say now is my real truth. No PR team can force me to say what they want. It is my life and I know my reality,” she said.

Meurer also reiterated that she knew about Churchill’s reconciliation and reunion with his son before it became public and stated she fully supported it.

Tonto Dikeh was previously married to Churchill before their marriage ended after about two years.
