The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed a deadly truck accident at Cele Bus Stop inward Mile 2 in the early hours of Thursday.
Astatement signed by the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Olufemi Oke- Osanyintolu, said! “Upon arrival at the scene, the LASEMA Eagle Response Team discovered an incident involving two 40-foot containerised trucks with unknown registration numbers.” The agency said preliminary investigations indicate that “one of the containerised trucks rammed into another stationary 40-foot containerised truck from behind due to excessive speed.”

Recovery and clearance operations are ongoing. The agency stated, “Recovery operations are currently underway, including the evacuation of the affected trucks and the commodities to restore normal traffic flow.” Traffic management measures have been implemented to “forestall any secondary incidents,” it added.
LASEMA said it was coordinating with the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other stakeholders to manage the situation safely and orderly. The agency advised motorists to “exercise patience and comply with traffic directives while clearance operations continue.”
The statement concluded with a safety reminder: “The Agency reiterates the importance of responsible driving, particularly adherence to speed regulations, to prevent avoidable tragedies on our roads.”
