President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, on his 65th birthday, describing him as an exemplary leader and a bridge-builder in Nigeria’s political evolution.

In a goodwill message personally signed and dated February 19, 2026, the President said he joined family members, friends and associates of the elder statesman in celebrating the milestone.

“With joy, I congratulate Chief Anyim Pius Anyim on his 65th birthday today, February 19,” Tinubu stated.

He prayed that the day would usher in renewed happiness and fulfilment for the former Senate President, noting that Anyim’s enduring presence in the nation’s political space reflects resilience and statesmanship.

“Since 1998, Chief Anyim has been a constant figure in Nigeria’s political landscape. His political longevity affirms his ability to build bridges and work with stakeholders across the aisle,” the President said.

Tinubu further described Anyim as “one of our nation’s exemplary leaders,” recalling his time as President of the Senate, where he resisted pressures that could have undermined the legislature.

“As President of the Senate, he stood up against attempts to besmirch the integrity of the National Assembly; he chose the uncomfortable and unpopular path,” he noted.

The President also acknowledged Anyim’s tenure as Secretary to the Government of the Federation, crediting him with contributing to institutional reforms and promoting national cohesion.

“Serving as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim contributed his quota to deepening reforms and, as a prominent leader, has often advanced matters of unity, dialogue, and development,” Tinubu said.

Describing him as “a believer in the promise of a greater, more prosperous Nigeria and an invaluable ally in the progressive family,” the President wished the former SGF continued strength and good health.

“As he celebrates his 65th birthday, I wish him good health and strength, especially as our nation needs more patriots who will always ensure its peace, progress, and development,” the President added.

PM NEWS reports that Anyim, a seasoned politician and statesman, has remained influential in Nigeria’s democratic journey, having held key national offices since the return to civil rule in 1999.
