US pop superstar Taylor Swift has been named the biggest-selling global artiste of 2025, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) announced Wednesday. This marks her fourth consecutive year and sixth overall to receive the accolade.
The 36-year-old singer’s dominance was fuelled by the October release of her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, which broke several streaming records, and a docuseries documenting her record-breaking The Eras Tour.
“2025 was another landmark year, driven by exceptional worldwide engagement across streaming, physical and digital formats with the release of her 12th album and the documentary of her tour,” IFPI said in a statement.
The body, which represents the recorded music industry globally, noted that Swift has now won its top annual artist prize as many times as all other artists combined over the past decade.
IFPI calculates the Global Artist of the Year Award based on worldwide sales across streaming, downloads, and physical music formats for an artist’s entire body of work.
Korean boy band Stray Kids came in second, marking their highest-ever ranking and third consecutive year in the global top five. Bad Bunny, fresh from his Super Bowl halftime performance, placed fifth, maintaining his sixth consecutive year on the chart.
American rapper Tyler, The Creator made his first appearance at 12th place, with IFPI noting his continued strong vinyl sales. Japanese rock band Mrs Green Apple entered the chart for the first time, following the success of their anniversary album 10, just below Tyler.
