Founder of the global prayer initiative Hallelujah Challenge, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, has cautioned critics and opponents of the programme, warning them against attempting to hinder the worship event.
Bassey gave the warning while speaking during Day 11 of the ongoing edition of the online praise and prayer gathering, which attracts participants from different parts of the world.
According to the cleric, this year’s programme has encountered unusual resistance, which he attributed to spiritual opposition.
“I pity them. In the Bible, those who mocked David were judged instantly. I declare from this altar: anyone who resists the Hallelujah Challenge risks God’s judgment. If you don’t want to participate, simply step aside. The kingdom of God suffereth violence,” he said.
He emphasised the significance of launching the programme with 24 hours of continuous praise, noting that no spiritual force can stop the initiative.
Bassey drew parallels with biblical accounts, stating that attempts to obstruct the prayer movement could attract divine consequences. He urged critics to allow believers practice their faith freely.
“Leave us alone to serve our God,” he added, insisting that the resistance the programme is facing is a reflection of its spiritual impact.
The warning comes shortly after Catholic priest, Father Joshua Mary Ugbedeojo Abuh, advised members of the Catholic Church not to participate in the Hallelujah Challenge during the Lenten season, citing possible inconsistencies with Catholic worship practices.
