The Senate of the University of Abuja has expelled 28 students for different disciplinary offences.

This was announced in a statement on Sunday in Abuja by Dr. Habib Yakoob, the Acting Director of Information and University Relations.

According to him, the decision was taken during a regular Senate meeting after the Students’ Disciplinary Committee (SDC) reviewed the cases and made its recommendations. The affected students were found guilty of offences such as threatening and assaulting others, examination malpractice, conspiracy, burglary, theft, cult-related activities, and possession and use of hard drugs. Some were also punished for falsifying their ‘O’ Level results uploaded on the university’s admission portal. Others failed to appear before the disciplinary committee despite being invited several times.

The Senate also approved the withdrawal of certificates of 15 former students who ignored repeated invitations from the disciplinary committee.
