Tems becomes African artist with highest monthly listeners

Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has become the African artist with the highest monthly listeners on Spotify.

The 30-year-old singer and record producer, hit 38.3 million listeners on the streaming platform, surpassing South-Africa’s Tyla who has 38.2 million listeners.

Tems’ increase in numbers was credited to the success of her recent collaborations with J.Cole and Future, as well as her hit song with Dave, ‘Raindance’.

She is also the most-streamed female African artist on the platform with 4.7 billion streams across all credits.
