Five in police custody over murder of 57-yrs-old farmer in Edo

Five suspects have been arrested by operatives of Edo State Police Command over the alleged murder of a 57-year-old man identified as Saturday Ojewa, following unresolved issues.
The deceased was reportedly murdered in Ewato community, Esan South East local government area of the state, while on his way to the farm, and buried him in a shallow grave.
It was gathered that trouble started when the deceased on getting to his farm, met the suspects cutting his bamboo sticks without his permission, and stop them. But, the suspects left grudgingly.
According to sources, angered by the development, the suspects came back the following day, laid ambush and killed the deceased with a cutlass on his way to the farm and buried him in a shallow grave in the forest and fled.
It was further gathered that few days after, one of the suspects identified simply as Mubarak, was arrested in connection with the murder.
The suspect reportedly confessed that one Timothy Ogbebor masterminded the murder, leading to his arrest also.
Three other suspected accomplices identified as Julius Bala, Lawrence Gayobi and Victor Monday were later arrested by police operatives.
Confirming the arrest, Edo Police Command’s Spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said the suspects would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
