The acting chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Edo State, Jarrett Tenebe, has linked the attack on the secretariat of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) by suspected thugs on Tuesday afternoon to alleged faction in the party.

Recall that thugs who came in several vehicles attacked the ADC secretariat located along Ogbelaka street, in Benin, shortly after the defection of former Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata, to the party.

The attack is coming 20 days after suspected thugs attempted to set the secretariat ablaze.

Not done, the assailants reportedly marched to the house of the national leader of ADC, John Odigie-Oyegun who was holding a meeting with Peter Obi and other chieftain of the party, and allegedly destroyed windshields of several vehicles.

Responding to the attack, the APC acting chairman, Tenebe, said what happened was as a result of factions within the Edo ADC.

‎”Did the attackers wear APC uniform? What is happening in ADC is a fational fight. You saw Owie fighting Oyegun. They should not drag us into their fight.”

It would however be recalled that Tenebe, had barely 24 hours ago advised the ADC not to come into the state, and barely 24 hours after Governor Monday Okpebholo accused the ADC of sponsoring cultism in the state.

Tenebe who was speaking during the commissioning of construction equipment by the state government, added that the state was not for other political parties:

“I advised the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) not to come into Edo State as the governor is working and the state is not for other political parties,” he said.
