2027: Kwankwaso, Makinde hold closed-door talks in Ibadan

The National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, held a private meeting on Tuesday with Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, at the Government House in Ibadan.

Kwankwaso arrived at the Oyo State capital earlier in the day and went straight to the Governor’s Office, where the meeting took place behind closed doors. He was accompanied by a close ally and NNPP chieftain, Buba Galadima.

Although neither Kwankwaso nor Governor Makinde spoke to journalists after the meeting, political observers believe the discussion may be linked to preparations ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Both leaders are influential figures in their respective political camps, and any form of alliance or understanding between them could shape political realignments in the coming years.

Governor Makinde, a key member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has remained an important voice in national politics, while Kwankwaso continues to lead the NNPP and maintain a strong political base, particularly in Kano and parts of the North.
