The Bauchi State Police Command has dispatched a large contingent of officers, supported by advanced weaponry, to several communities affected by rising banditry.
Police Public Relations Officer Nafiu Habib said the action follows renewed security concerns in Gwana, Digare and Kafin Duguri, all within Alkaleri Local Government Area. Operations involve the police, military, Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
“In recent days, there has been a resurgence of security concerns in Gwana, Digare and Kafin Duguri. Following a thorough security assessment, the Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, has initiated a massive deployment of joint security personnel to the affected communities with a view to suppressing the activities of these criminal elements,” Habib stated.
He reassured residents of Mansur town, who had fled their homes, that the situation is under control. “Despite recent incidents in neighbouring Gwana District, Mansur town remains unaffected, and there is no cause for alarm,” he added.
Habib confirmed that the Commissioner of Police, Sani Omolori Aliyu, emphasised the need for community cooperation. Residents are urged to provide intelligence and report anything suspicious, with assurances that all information will remain confidential.
Security operations in the area are ongoing, with authorities determined to prevent any safe havens for bandits while allowing lawful activities to continue without fear.
