2027 Showdown: Yoruba Ronu dumps APC, throws weight behind ADC

Quick Read

Yoruba Ronu said it will not only support the ADC but also help develop its policies and campaign strategies, particularly in the Southwest.

The Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum has withdrawn its support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and announced that it will now support the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in future elections.

The group made the decision after visiting the ADC national headquarters in Abuja for strategic talks with party officials.

In a statement signed by its President, Akin Malaolu, the forum criticized the APC’s leadership, saying it has reduced public trust in Nigeria’s democracy. It pointed to the low voter turnout in the recent FCT local government elections as a sign that many Nigerians are losing faith in the electoral process.

The forum also expressed concern about Nigeria’s global reputation and worsening economic conditions, including unemployment, insecurity and rising food prices.

It said the ADC offers a credible alternative and noted that several prominent political figures have joined the party. The group also cited the ADC’s recent electoral victories as proof of its growing popularity.

Yoruba Ronu said it will not only support the ADC but also help develop its policies and campaign strategies, particularly in the Southwest.

The forum urged Yoruba people both in Nigeria and in the Diaspora to support the ADC in future elections.
