Super Eagles confirmed as FIFA releases participating teams

Nigeria has secured a spot in the 2026 FIFAe Nations League after world football governing body FIFA unveiled the list of qualified nations for the upcoming season.

The competition will be staged across three categories — eFootball (console), eFootball (mobile), and Rocket League  highlighting the continued expansion of competitive football gaming worldwide. FIFA confirmed that 115 countries qualified in the console division, 81 in mobile, and 84 in Rocket League. Nigeria successfully earned qualification in all three formats, reinforcing its growing influence in global esports football.

The development marks a significant milestone for the country’s esports ambitions, particularly after narrowly missing out on a place at the 2025 FIFAe World Cup in Saudi Arabia.

Nigeria’s campaign at that tournament ended in the quarter-finals, where they were eliminated by South Africa.

With qualification now secured, attention will turn to preparations as Nigerian gamers aim to make a deeper impact on the international stage.

Participation in the FIFAe Nations League offers another platform to showcase the nation’s rising digital football talent and further strengthen its presence in the competitive gaming community.

Away from esports, Nigeria is still awaiting FIFA’s verdict on a petition lodged by the Nigeria Football Federation against the Fédération Congolaise de Football Association over alleged player eligibility concerns during their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff clash.

If FIFA rules in Nigeria’s favour, the Super Eagles could yet receive a lifeline in the qualification race. However, for now, the confirmed berth in the FIFAe Nations League stands as a major boost for Nigeria’s aspirations in the fast-growing world of esports football.
