Breaking: Iran retaliates, fires missiles at Israel after US-Israel strikes

The conflict between Israel, the United States, and Iran has entered a dangerous new phase, with Iran firing missiles toward Israel in apparent retaliation for coordinated strikes on its territory.

President Donald Trump confirmed US involvement in what he termed “major combat operations” in Iran, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the joint effort as “Operation ‘The Roar of the Lion'” aimed at eliminating the “existential threat” posed by Iran’s regime and its nuclear ambitions.

In a video message posted to social media, Trump stated that the US military had begun “major combat operations” to defend American interests by neutralizing “imminent threats from the Iranian regime.”

He reiterated longstanding accusations against Tehran, citing 47 years of hostility including threats of “Death to America” and attacks on US forces and allies.

Netanyahu, in a direct address to Israeli citizens, confirmed the operation’s name and objectives: “A short time ago, Israel and the United States embarked on an operation to remove the existential threat posed by the terrorist regime in Iran.”

He thanked Trump for his “historic leadership” and called on Iranians, Persians, Kurds, Azeris, Baluchis, and Ahwazis, to rise against their government for a “free and peaceful Iran.” Netanyahu urged Israelis to heed Home Front Command instructions amid expected challenges in the coming days, emphasizing endurance and fortitude.

Visual evidence from Tehran showed thick plumes of smoke rising over the city following the initial strikes, with reports of explosions in downtown areas near key government sites.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported detecting missiles launched from Iran toward Israeli territory shortly after the offensive began.

Sirens activated across the country, and the IDF stated it was actively intercepting threats while striking back where necessary.

“The defense is not hermetic,” the statement warned, urging the public to strictly follow Home Front Command guidelines for protection.
