Nigerian social media influencer and entrepreneur, King Mitchy, has spoken publicly after a false report of her death circulated online, allegedly issued by her management.
In a lengthy post shared on her Instagram page, the content creator addressed the controversy surrounding her recent online dispute and the backlash that followed her school renovation project.
According to Mitchy, many people have questioned her intentions and attempted to discredit her actions despite her claim that the project was done out of genuine concern.
She insisted that she renovated the school to help children who lacked opportunities, noting that her personal background inspired her decision.
The influencer revealed she grew up without a father and barely knew him, recalling that the only time she saw him was during a prison visit when she was about eight years old. She added that online criticism and bullying had intensified in recent days but maintained that the attacks would not define her.
“My story didn’t break me; it built me,” she wrote, adding that she would continue doing good regardless of public opinion.
The controversy follows an online clash between Mitchy and activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, after she claimed she renovated a school within six days and challenged him to provide N50 million to renovate additional schools.
She also alleged that the activist questioned the source of funds for her business and made inappropriate accusations against her during the dispute. The disagreement reportedly led to the temporary loss of her business page on social media.
Following the backlash, a statement from her management announced that she had died after medical efforts at a hospital in Abuja failed. However, the hospital later issued a disclaimer, stating she was never admitted there and did not pass away at the facility.
